Friday June 10th, at 9:30pm, Tony Lee. Local guitarist/vocalist Tony Lee come to Joyce to share his original composition and your favorite classic rock tunes, in a night of solo acoustic guitar and vocals.
"Tony Lee is a man of many faces. You may have seen him playing guitar in bands doing a variety of music including blues, country, pop and classic rock. He's also a familiar face at jam sessions. Recently, he's been singing and playing up a storm with Diving for Air at Fresco on Peel.
But he has another side. On June 10th, he will appear at Joyce is Not Here in a more intimate acoustic setting. With a wide background of musical influences, his material resonates easily with audiences. This evening's performance promises down-to-earth songs with equal emphasis on melody, lyrics, vocals, and guitar-playing and will also be a chance to hear some of his original compositions."

Stephanos Marinides was born in London in 1983 and began playing the piano at the age of five. In 1990 he was accepted into Junior Trinity College of Music with a scholarship and has been playing in concerts ever since. While studying there, he was leader of the orchestra on the violin, performed major works as a member of the choir, including the Faure and Mozart Requiems, and played his own piano compositions in concerts.
As a child, Stephanos won many prizes such as the Hellenic College music prize for five consecutive years, a musicianship prize at Trinity College in 1996 and a performance prize in 2000. He continued to excel at university level, attending Senior Trinity College and studying with the legendary pianists John Bingham and Yonty Solomon. He received the Anthony Lindsay Performance Prize in his first year there and also took part in the most challenging concerto competition in the conservatoire reaching the semi-finals and receiving praise from the adjudicator Andrew Ball (head of keyboard studies at the Royal College of Music).
Stephanos has performed some of the most demanding music in the piano repertoire including Mussurgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition”, Ravel's “Gaspard De la Nuit” and Rachminoff's Concerto “Variations on a Theme by Paganini”. He has also performed in some of the best concert halls in London including Wigmore Hall, St John Smith's Square and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
After travelling through Asia last summer, Stephanos is now living in Hong Kong where he is working as a performer/teacher/composer.
Saturday June 18th at 9:30pm, Ela Algeria and Bob Mocarsky. One of Hong Kong's favorite jazz singers Ela Algeria makes her Joyce is not here debut accompanied by New York pianist/organist Bob Mocarsky for a night of swinging jazz!
Friday June 24th at 9:30pm, Yanice Tsang and Nobel. Violinist/vocalist Yanice Tsang returns to Joyce for a duo with guitarist Nobel, for a mix of classical, jazz, bossa nova and pop music favorites.
